I am really disappointed in this book. It was a total waste of money! After reading Bridal Bargains, it became apparent who the real scam artists are: Denise and Alan Fields. Every time they have an event in their life, they write a book about it. They then pass themselves off as “experts” to get a few bucks out of unsuspecting brides. SHAME ON THEM.
So, I have decided that every time I have a new life event, I will proclaim myself an “instant expert” and I’ll write a book. It worked for the Fields’- Denise Fields was obviously a former bride who felt “jilted” by the industry. Sorry, Ms. Fields, but in our self-indulgent age, we don’t have the time nor care for your decades-old complaints about how you feel you were mistreated by the bridal industry. Please choose a new platform to voice your grievances (that no one cares about anyway).
Thank you very much, but I will purchase my COUTURE (ie not a cheap knockoff) gown at a REAL bridal salon, I will order a DELICIOUS (not Grocery store) cake, and I will spring for a REAL DJ/BAND (not rip off the true artist by playing downloaded mp3’s on my boom-box).
The Fields’ should be ASHAMED of themselves. Of course, they never will be- not as long as they are busy counting the money rolling in from unsuspecting people buying this useless book.

Although this book offers a lot of good ideas to get you going on saving money, there are some preposterous ones in the chapter on music. The authors actually suggest you burn a bunch of MP3s onto a series of cds to play for your reception to save money; an idea that is not only immoral but also illegal! As a musician and bride myself, I can tell you that artists are really suffering from the reality of people burning music illegally through services like Napster without purchasing it. No proceeds go to the artist when you do this, and you’re taking away the only income some of these people have. Remember that even the big artists sometimes need the money; look at how the Beatles fared… What’s going to happen to these musicians when people stop purchasing their music altogether? Also, the authors suggest that ‘musicians can figure out how to pay for their meals the other six days of the week; why should you have to feed them?’. I can tell you that when I play a wedding, I’m usually in for upwards of five hours, starting before dinner and lasting until well after… where do they expect me to find a meal? Order in some pizza? Also, I can also tell you that most gigs I do, whether it’s in a bar, a restaurant or a large theatre, the site provides the musicians with (at the very least) a free beer. Catering is provided for large shows, and in restaurants and bars there’s usually the option to eat something from the menu on the house. THAT’s how we find meals the other six nights. I was appalled. I certainly plan on both paying AND feeding my hard-working, well-deserving musicians who provide me and all my guests with a night of fantastic entertainment.

Totally useless fluff for the self-indulgent bride. (But then, aren’t all brides self-indulgent?) In the SUV inspired world, SUV size weddings rule. This is just another book on how to keep up with the Joneses. Sickening!!

As a new bride, I thought this book was –well–let’s say—BORING!. No style..no design and these authors are “lost” as far as what brides want in the 21st century. If you are young, hip and cool, this book is not for you. If you are old on a 4th marriage, you might like it. Also-warning ..these authors have TERRIBLE reviews on their Baby Bargains book. It seems they write all their own great reviews. I think Martha Stewart weddings is OBVIOUSLY much better and I also think I would not recommend a book from Denise and Alan Field’s EVER.
